The sophomore Humanities program at Northfield Mount Hermon School is taught collaboratively by a History teacher and a Religious Studies teacher. It focuses on human cultures over time. Assignments and activities are designed with the dual purpose of building on concepts and skills developed in Humanities I, while introducing integrated Humanities study to new sophomores. Writing, reading, critical thinking, speaking, library and on-line research, project planning, and independent work are emphasized throughout the program. Representative topics include myth, symbol, ritual, tradition, the worlds religions, geography, social systems, and key historical events and people.
